What you can do
Given the number of invasive species in lakes that have public boat accesses, it is likely that boats visiting others lakes will have also visited infected lakes and carry such things as Zebra mussels, Spiny Water fleas and milfoil.
Once introduced, these species are extremely damaging and extremely difficult and expensive to get rid of, if that is possible. And it would be the costs of local lakeshore property owners, not the DNR’s, to cope with them.
Since the DNR has not demonstrated any ability to stop the spread of these species, it would be unwise and unfair to subject more lakes to them.
Even if it is just a few sentences, please take the time to let them know of your opposition. It’s very important that the DNR hear from as many people as possible.
Contact Information
Please note that it is important to send letters or emails to the top DNR officials... they will be the ones actually making the decision.
